Editorial Product Review:Item Description:This Expandable Steel Baton is available in three sizes. With a simple snap of the wrist, the baton expands to its full size. The 26' baton measures 10' when closed, the 21' baton measures 8-1/4' when closed and the 16-1/2' baton closes to measure 6-1/2'. Each baton features a foam padded handle for better comfort and reduced slippage. Black nylon sheath with belt loop included. **** OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS **** To open - hold baton close to body, gripping the handle firmly. Swing baton quickly away from body. The batons will extend. To collapse - grip handle firmly and strike the tip of the baton into a firm surface (such as the ground) in the opposite direction that the baton extends. ***** PLEASE NOTE ****** We have received several comments that these batons can be hard to close. The sections are held open by the friction of the tubes against each other. The more force used to open the baton, the more force needed to close the baton. These batons are not toys. These batons are are constructed of heavy duty steel. We choose to sell a high qualityheavy duty product that takes some effort to close than a piece of junk that will not operate as intended.

Strong but requires strength
Seems like a solid, dependable construction. It requires quite a bit of force to open, but once deployed it is very sturdy.
To close: put the end in a sock and slam it straight down onto a hard surface.

Superb blunder.
The item arrived early, was in great condition, had a great foam grip, good weight, and was quite effective as a weapon. I used it mainly for exercise, swinging it like practicing shadow swordplay (Great for cardio). After a few weeks, without notice, the smallest section pops off. I tried to put it back in, but now the section it retracts into directly is stretched, therefore it does not hold onto the thrown section. Albeit I may have been a bit rough, or used it too frequently, it may have been too quick of temperature variations, I dont know. I will try and return it, and if not accepted, I will try to repair it myself, at which time if I have no luck, it is now a shortened baton.

impossible to collapse
After I extended this baton, I could not close it! and I tried everything. The problem is that if it gets stuck and you cannot close it, you cant even send it back. If it did close properly, however, it would be a good quality baton.
