Good quality, but expect fog and water spots
I surf regularly (and take part in some other water sports), and have long known that I should be wearing sunglasses to protect my eyes from all that sunlight.
I finally decided to act on that knowledge, and was set to buy the SeaSpecs Jet Specs. However, after searching a bit, I found these, which appear to be nearly identical, and are half the price. I can say that the SeaSpecs have gotten good reviews from other surfers I know.
I found these Birdz Seahawk glasses to be solidly built, and nice and light, with nice clear lenses that really make bright sunlight much more bearable. The polarized lenses particularly helps on the water, and drastically reduce glare. I did find that the rubber part of the piece that goes over you ear (and connects to the strap) came off the plastic support easily when I first tried out the glasses (which can be a problem since there's a bit of tension on them because of the strap around the back of your head), but a few small drops of superglue took care of that easily.
The biggest problem I have with these is quite possibly one that can't really be avoided. While in the water, spray sticks to the outside of the lenses, making it tough to see. And sometimes the inside of the lenses fog up, especially when I'm paddling (and thus breathing harder). Both of these make the glasses tough to see through, and mess up your depth perception a bit. I'm going to see if some Rain-X on the outside might help. Spitting on the inside (a diver trick for facemasks) does help with the fogging.
Overall, I'd recommend these. They're well-made, and will quite possibly save you from some eye problems in the future.
